What is Assisted Living and why is it an important option to consider?
Assisted living is a living arrangement that allows older individuals to live in community with others where assistance with basic activities of daily living is available as they need it. It is different from nursing homes in that complex medical services are not provided.
Less Worry
Many of us live in homes that can become harder to navigate as we age. With stairs that must be climbed, house repairs that must be made, and meals to cook staying in our current house may become difficult. At AmeriCare Lodge older individuals enjoy all the comforts of home without having the worry of household responsibilities. The worry and expense of maintenance, groceries, cooking, and the like are taken care of.
Transportation
Transportation is provided, eliminating the costs of maintaining and insuring a car. AmeriCare Lodge staff get their residents to medical, dental, and other appointments, as well as regular outings to go shopping or eat out at area restaurants.
Help As You Need It
Life doesn’t always happen between the hours of 9 -5. AmeriCare Lodge has staff on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A registered nurse helps manage medications. While not a memory care facility, AmeriCare Lodge is here to assist our residents as they go through their daily lives.
Socialization
Depression can become a very real issue as people age, quite often due to feelings of isolation. This is particularly true for individuals with physical limitations. With two common living rooms, a kitchen, and communal dining room in our handicap-friendly facility no one has to be alone.
Activities
Being with peers gives individuals the opportunity to enjoy a wider variety of activities in addition to ones they’ve enjoyed in the past. Located on 7.3 acres AmeriCare Lodge strives to keep our residents doing what they love to do.
